Target
2010 Black Friday Sale

Furniture & Equipment

I cant believe how unsophisticated Target was in handling the Black Friday Sale regarding the Westinghouse 40" lcd for $298.00 It would be the hottest item anywhere. People stood on line for hours only to be told they were out of stock. Obviously they only had a few per store. Although it was suppose to be 1 per customer there were customers there with friends and family scooping up as many as they could at once. There was no control in the way it was handled. Within minutes they were out and within hours you could see the TV's popping up on Craigslist and Ebay all over the country for $450 - $500 making sellers a hefty profit. I saw a Craigslist ad where the seller blatantly listed 4 TV's from the Target black Friday ad. The solution was simple - hand out tickets to everyone interested in a TV and hold a lottery at 4am. This way everyone has an equal chance to get a TV. Since there was a limited amount it wouldn't take the long. It doesn't matter what time you get there or how many people you bring in your group. There are a lot of disgruntled customers because Target couldn't think ahead. Once again the customer gets screwed.
