Extremely poor quality of service

My phone battery was dying on me so as a Verizon Wireless customer, I walked into the Westwood store near UCLA campus to buy one. There were only two customers ahead of me and when they left, this woman wearing a yellow jacket asked what she could assist me with. I told her I needed a phone battery as mine was dying on me. She said that I could have an appointment that same day and could I return at 2 pm. I said I couldn't return at that time and that all I needed was a phone battery.
Again, she stated that they already had many appointments scheduled that day and that 2 pm was the soonest appointment she had. Again, I stated that I wouldn't be able to return at 2 pm and just needed a phone battery and what was I supposed to do not having my phone working with no battery. I also noticed that at that time, there were no other customers in the store and there were at least two other sales people available to assist me and neither one of them did a thing!!! At that time also I was not interfering with any customers as there weren't any in the store.
I was livid and just said "Never mind, never mind" and walked out. I went to another wireless independent store in the same area and got my battery problem solved within 10-12 minutes. No mess no fuss.
E been into this Verizon store previously and have never, ever encountered such horrible customer service. Nor have I ever, ever needed an appointment! All I needed was a new phone battery and at no time while in this store was I disrupting any other customer!
I just may change providers when my phone contract is up in 2013!!
