Teresa Williams Samuel Giggs
Craigslist, check scam

Electronics and household app.

About a month ago, I attempted to sell a Bass Amplifier on Craigslist for 450. This knucklehead e-mailed me and said she/he was interested in the bass (still not sure if they were male or female said their name was teresa but the gmail account is a sam giggs with a males picture). So, they said consider it sold, they'd send the check in the mail. I said okay, I'll wait for the check. Then, the genius continued to email me and said the check was made out for more money than what I asked for. I politely said "sure ma'am, i'll cash the check and return the rest to you" thinking that maybe this was a little old lady who accidently made a money order out for a couple dollars more. No big deal, I'm a nice guy. But, as the emailing continued it was blatantly obvious that english was this individuals second language and they were really bad at scamming people. I was to contact her "mover" to pick up the amp, return whatever money was left to him. And that would be the end of it. At this point, I got skeptical, I asked for a drivers license, she sent me a horribly photoshopped new york driver's license of a middle aged women from Manhattan. It didn't look like a picture or a scan, they literally made the license on photoshop and sent it to me as a pdf.

So, at this point I said no sale, laughed at her/him, and advised them to get a real job as they were the worst scammer on the planet. So, I sat around for a month, gave up on that joke of a website craigslist, and figured this was all said in done. Then, Thursday, a check for $2740 dollars came to me from a 617 claudina street in anaheim CA. The check was from Suntrust, made out from an organization called "Conservation Through Public Health, " based out of Colgate University, signed by none other than... JOHN SMITH! LOL!

So, first thing I did, contacted SunTrust, ran the check numbers and it was in fact a real check. Friday morning, contacted Colgate University to inquire why I recieved this large sum of money from them. No one there could recollect authorizing said check and John Smith is a janitor there. Colgate ended their partnership with CTPH about four years ago. So, The environmental studies department put me in touch with the CEO of the real "Conservation Through Public Health." I'm still awaiting an email back from her. Already shredded the check and reported it.

Turns out "Conservation Through Public Health" is a real and admirable organization that strives to save endangered gorillas in UGANDA and the real CEO is an awesome lady. Not sure how this joker "Teresa Williams" got ahold of one of their checks, or how they put my name on it.

Thought everyone could use a laugh.

Moral of the story, if you fall for this idiot's scam, you deserve it.
