AT&T
Ripoff-International call to Guinea Bissau West Africa which was NEVER made! Sounds like Alyon strikes again!

I am a resident of Peoria, Arizona. My local phone service is provided by Qwest. My long-distance is through AT&T.

I recieved my telephone bill on 1/31/04. I opened it on 2/1/04 which was a Sunday. There was a charge on my bill from AT&T, an international call... That was supposedly placed on my phone on 12/30/03... The call was at 9:46P and the "Place" was listed as "GUI BISSAU" the number was "24588593"- please note this is an "8-digit number"??? The call was listed as 21 Minutes in length, the "Type" was "Dirct" the "Rate" was "Econ" and the total charge for this call was $119.07!!!

After I recovered from almost having a heart-attack, I contacted AT&T on Monday morning (2/2/04). As I spent hour after hour on the phone, I was FINALLY directed (by a woman with the name "Anna") at the 1-800-222-0300 number (don't try to get in touch with her or ANY other individual from AT&T as no one has an extension or direct number as far as I can tell!)

Anyway, Anna connected me with AT&T Credit Management Center the number there is 1-800-532-7486, but don't waste your time... I was "informed" by a woman by the name of Baugh Turner at this number that 'my local phone company was responible and that they (my local company being Qwest) told AT&T what to bill!!!

This sounded VERY strange to me, but I went ahead and contacted Qwest anyway...

Thank god i did...

At Qwest I was greeted by a VERY nice woman by the name of Brooke... She listened as I explained my dilema and insisted on calling AT&T WITH ME!!!

Please let me explain that EVERY individual I had spoken to at AT&T had been EXTREMELY rude and this phone-call was NO exception!!! As soon as Brooke spoke with the AT&T representative and explained my situation, he wanted her to and "hang-up" and wanted to talk with me ALONE!!! I told him NO! I wanted her to stay on the line and even she could not believe his rudeness...

Anyway, if this has happened to you, you MUST do the following!!!

AT&T will IMMEDIATELY offer you a "ONE TIME ONLY" credit for this call... DO NOT ACCEPT THIS!!!

As with my case, this call was supposedly made on 12/30/03... TODAY was 2/2/04, if I were to have accepted their "One Time Only" offer, I would be responible for ANY and ALL calls of this nature from 12/30/03- 2/2/04!!! That is OVER a MONTH!!! Even if I was charged for 1 call per day during the month of January to this number, it would amount to OVER $3,000.00!!! And BECAUSE I had accepted their "One Time Only" I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THESE CHARGES!!!

Make sure that you make it VERY clear to them that you are NOT ONLY accepting their "One Time Only" for the charge that appears on your bill, but INSIST that they remove ANY and ALL charges from the date of the first call until the date you call them!!! This is called your "Date of Education"!! Request that an "International BLOCK" be placed on your phone immediately and MAKE SURE YOU GET A CONFIRMATION NUMBER!!!

I was informed that even though NOBODY at AT&T could look-up the activity on my account between 12/30/03 and today 2/2/04, that my next bill may indeed have further charges to this same number and that in order to have them removed, I would again have to call AT&T and give my confirmation #!!!

I would really like to hear from ANYONE who has received similar charges on their AT&T bill!!!
