Company will not answer phone, T.V.'s don't last Lots of comsumer complaints

I purchased a T.V. At Wal-Mart in April of paid 683.00 for it, a Polaroid 32" flat screen, Model # TDA03211C expecting it to last me most of my life now that I'm 71, Well not even three years old the set started smoking from the top and the screen goes blank, I try and try to call these people and finially get them to answer me at this # 1-800-765-2764, only to be told they will send me a refurbished board for 223.00 and then refund me 100.00 when I mail in the old part, I'm thinking that is funny, so have looked up the consumer complaints on this Polaroid T.V. To find there are MANY complaints about these T.V.'s, they should have had a recall and fixed the problems they know about, the guy I talked with (Eric) knew exactly what my problem was and offer the board and I repair, but it cost me over 100. To fix a t.V. That isn't even three years old. I know it isn't under warrenty after three years but feel that when they have so many complaints they should have recalled the products. Yes it is assembled in Mexico... I will be looking for the Made in America from now on, if there is such a thing now days. Jerrie, Oregon
