I was visiting Hawaii for the first time for my birthday. My wife wanted to do something special for me. I'm a camera buff and she visited Lighthaus camera and purchased me a lens for a gift. I was so pleased and excited. I wanted to learn more about the lens so I googled it. This is when I saw the real price of the lens. There were several camera dealers selling the same lens for much, much, and I mean much less.
We decided to return it. I hadn't even opened the box or tried out the lens. I talked to one of sales people. I was informed that we could return it for "store credit" and that there would be a restocking fee. I mentioned that store credit wouldn't do us any good because we are visitors. I asked if they could check with a manager or someone. A phone call was made and after a few minutes I was told that's all the could offer me. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I was on vacation and it was my birthday. We left and I kept the lens. When we got back to our hotel I informed them about or experience (the hotel made the suggestion to my wife to go there.)
It was a learning lesson and it's a shame that our experience wasn't the best. I hope a predatory store like lighthaus camera changes their ways in dealing with visitors.
