Fausto castillo issued a fraudulent purchase order from a valid company (kontron) for $20,000 in digital cameras

Electronics and household app.

A person named Fausto Castillo, who claimed he was Product Marketing Managerof Kontron sent an email solicitation for a quote for digital cameras and lcd projectors to the CTO at our Company. Fausto Castillo provided bank and credit references, which were valid references for Kontron. TheCompanysent a quote and received a signed Purchase Order from Kontron for ~$28,000 for digital cameras and projectors to be drop shipped to a Texas address. The Company ordered the cameras and projcectors and had them drop-shipped to: Kontron, 205 Burns Dr., Seagoville, TX 75159 Attn. Herbert Williams Tel. 972-287-3891. FedEx tracking information indicates the 55 cameras valued at $20,350 were "left on the porch... No signature required" at the Texas address. Apparently, FedEx ignored Company's instructions to deliver the items to Herbert Williams. Fortunately, UPS did not deliver the 2 digital projectors, since they could not locate Herbert Williams and they returned the projectors to the shipper.

Upon receipt of the invoice by Kontron, the Company was informed that the Fausto Castillo was not an employee of Kontron and this was an elaborate scam that involved over 10 victim-companies for a total of $500,000 to $1,000, 000.

Company personnelhad 2 brief telephone conversations with "Fausto Castillo" at 585-208-3095 and left several voicemail messages at "Kontron" phone no. 888-885-3351.
