Employees so 'eager' to help have nothing to offe

Call me forgiving, but it took two seperate negative incidents at CC to convince me to take my future buisness elsewhere:

Having done our research, my wife and I knew what features we wanted as we began our search for a laptop computer.cc had a decent deal running, so we went there. Right off the bat the older guy running the department was obviously woefully lacking in knowledge, in that it took him some time to locate the CD-ROM drive on the notebook PC. He then went on to say that he owned that exact model (yeah, sure he did), and it treated him well. As we went to make the purchase, he [obligatorily] tried to sell us the extend service program. I kid you not these were his words; "For a three year warranty it'll run you $280, that comes out to about $50 dollars a year."

Our second fun experience happened a few months later when I tried puchasing a camera tripod. I had found one on clearence because it was damaged, yet I could easily fix at home. The employee that helped me was having trouble getting the right UPC, and disappeared. After a lengthy wait, I was approached by another employee, asking if I needed any help. I began to explain my situation, but he WALKED AWAY as I was talking, asking another customer if they needed any help. After that insult, there was a debate between two employees over my tripod. The antagonist INSISTED that the sign was not for the one I selected (impossible, considering the tripod I selected was the only one they offered made by Ambico, and every other tripod they had was made by Kodak).

I never shopped circuit City expecting top notch assistance, but still. If I wasn't such a cheapskate, I would have simply left the store on those occasions.
