Very difficult time canceling service due to audio gaps & $120 fee

I subscribed to Vonage Sept '08, purchasing all equipment. They promised that I could keep my old telephone number but that did not occur.

Both sides of my phone conversations were getting short audio gaps forcing you or the other party to repeat themselves. Various corrective measures were attempted to no avail.

Beginning of July, I switched over to Time Warner and today 8-4-09 I attempted to cancel service. After establishing my identity multiple times, they kept me on the phone forever. I did not want to play 20 questions about my service as I already went thru that. It was time to cancel. Eventually a supr came on the line & it turns out they were using this stalling time to deduct $120 from my bank account.

Lousy service & a rip-off company.
