Broken When Purchased... Started Ordeal 5 Months Ago... Still No Phone/Answewing Machine

I purchased a GE phone/answering machine 2/28/09. I charged the handsets as directed. One handset stand would not charge the handset. I charged both handsets from base stand w/answering machine. I called Thomson per instructions in box. Thomson service rep. AJ told me to send handset and stand. I repeated instructions back at least three times. (My husband laughed at how I repeated and questioned the instructions.) I mailed the items to Thomson.
Four weeks later I received the items back with a form letter checked: incorrect model" and "returned only a portion". I called Thomson immediately. Customer service rep Rachel kept saying sorry and they wanted me to send the entire unit though I had already disposed of my old answering machine. I talked with a supervisor, Mr. Noel. I stated since they had inconvenienced me so much already and I had followed their company rep's instructions I just wanted to send the handset/stand not working; I wanted to keep the phone/answering machine stand. No, I had to send the whole thing even though it had been Thomson's mistake.
Mr. Noel had agreed to send me a FedEx label on March 31. April 22 I still did not have a FedEx label. I called Thomson again and customer service rep Jim gave me a third case number and told me 7-10 business days. May 11 I received the FedEx label.
I received a call before sending that I needed to fax the receipt to a different office... Though I had included a copy in the first box and then again in the second box. They stated it was because the length of time had been so long since I purchased. They told me I would be shipped a new phone in 7-10 business days.
Mid-May I packed up the phone and FedEx'ed the entire phone/answering machine. July 28 I faxed "I still do not have my phone back... Why? Call xxx-xxx-xxxx" July 29 I sent the fax again. Later July 29 I called. I was told by a rep, I could not make out his name, that the phone had been ordered July 24.
I then called GE; I thought GE may want to know that their third party vendor lacks customer service, runs a poor business operation and scars the GE brand name. Surprise, they could have cared less, no one to talk with at GE, and GE gave me the number of a person with Thomson.
