Surround sound speaker ripoff ripoff

Electronics and household app.

I think my car just seems to attract these guys. About a month ago I had my top down and was pulled over at the side of the road using my cell. Two guys (aged about mid 20s) pulled over and started yelling at me to get off the phone because they have something for me. The one guy was acting so excited he was sweating and jumping around. The driver strangely remained very calm and didnt even make eye contact with me. The very excited guy jumped out and started telling me something about how they got these extra speakers and they need to get rid of them while on their lunch break.

He got a big box out of the van and started showing me some really nice looking speakers. I didnt know what to think. Then a cop pulled up. The cop told the driver to get out and they started talking. I dont know what they were talking about but I got out of there. Then just a few days ago it happened again. I had my top down and was stoped at a red light. I guy (in his mid to late 20s) in a large SUV started yelling at me. He said I had a nice car and said that, since I like nice things, he has something he would like to show me. We pull over to a parking lot and he begins raving about these great speakers that he would like to sell me for really cheap. He said his company had overstock or something. He showed me the speakers, they were indeed nice. He told me that the sub was powered @ 200W and the entire system is 800W! He showed me the price on the box. It said the whole system was $1999.00. He told me he would give it all to me for only $400. He was being very pushy yet pleasent and convincing. After a bit of haggling I got the home theater system for $200. I was pretty excited at getting such a good deal. Then I got it home. I realized that the "200W powered sub" wasnt powered at all. I needed an amp if I wanted to run it. The guy told me that I wouldnt need a receiver for the setup. It turns out that I in fact DO need a receiver to run this surround sound system.in the end I did end up getting some really nice sounding satelite speakers and a good center channel speaker, but I am very upset that I cant use them properly without a receiver and that the sub is not powered.

Im just glad I didnt pay the guy much for them. I have had both of these encounters on the Carlisle Pike in Pennsylvania. Beware of the Digital Audio 2002 speaker selling ripoff guys!
