Signed me up without my knowledge, scammed me on my verizon bill, refused to refund

About a month ago I started getting spam-texts on my cell phone. When the verizon bill came, I found an odd charge of $9.99 When I called Verizon, they said it was for Predicto.com - a company which I had never heard of.

I contacted Predicto and was told that I had signed up for the service AND had a password for the service. Absolutely untrue! They gave me the date that I supposedly signed up for this. They also told me the password that I had given the account - a number that I would NEVER use. Completely bogus.

Predicto refused to give me a refund because "the sign up process is designed to be too complex to allow for mistakes" - apparently it is a 4 step process.

I called Verizon back to find out what time the calls had been placed to initiate the Predicto service. The 4 calls to Predicto were made during my work day when I do not even have my cell phone on.

Verizon very nicely refunded the 9.99 charge and blocked access to this company on all my other Verizon family lines. Apparently, they have received a number of complaints like mine.

What a scam!
