Outlandish late fee ripoff Kansa City Kansas

Hi,
I had made a purchase at Radio Shack in Quincy, MA Purchase price of $338.98 I signed up for a radio shack credit card at the purchase. That purchase was put on the radioshack credit card. I paid it in full by check when I recieved the statement.

I had my credit report done and an unpaid balance for radio shack was on it for over $257.00 I contacted radio shack credit dept and they told me I had an unpaid balance of $2.77 thats right $2.77 and with interest from date of statement 3/21/01 is interest. I never recieved a second statement or invoice showing a overdue balance, they said it was up to me to check my records on unpaid balances.

I paid the amount on the statement and never got another statement. Is this normal procedure? What can I do???
