Thomson Inc has continued to deny my refund on DVD/VCR by saying it is in processing for 4 months

In May we purchased a DVD/VCR recorder from Walmart in Plainfield Illinois. From the start the player would not work. We called for help to customer service and they would tell us to reboot or some other checks. This went on for months. Then when we could not get support help any longer they told us to pay the postage and return the unit for repacement. After receiving the replacement unit in 2008 we were faced with the same problem of this units failure to work. We called customer service and we were given the run around of rebooting etc. We then had a family home tape lodged in the machine and took it in for repair. We were told that the board was no good and the machine was a useless piece of machinery. The tape was recovered but destroyed. We lost our treasured family tape of my children. We then called Thomson and they said right away to return the unit free of charge and they would replace with no postage charged to us. We never received this replacement unit.
We began to make calls and we were told over and over that the replacement unit was enroute. Then we were told that the unit was sent out FED EX on 10-13-08. Then on 11-18-08 we were told that it was sent out FED EX on 11-14-08 and it would be 7 - 14 days for it to reach us. We called again on 12-3-08 and was told that there was no information in there department regarding this shipment. No units were sent out at all! Then we were told that they were no longer sending replacement units and we could receive a check in 6-8 weeks. We faxed the receipt and the information and they told us that we could expect a check in the mail in 7 - 14 day. On 12-28-08 we called and they said that the unit was being sent out from FED EX in 6 - 8 weeks. I explained that there were no units and the FED EX request of shipment was given the number 299788985. I called again on 1-5-09 and found that they had no information from their department and that I would receive a check in 4-6 weeks. It was in processing and I told them that I would call back in 4 weeks. I called on 1-21-09 and was told that the check for $234.37 was still in processing and would be sent out in 6-8 weeks. I called again on 2-13-09 and the first call I was told that the check was still in processing and it would be 6-8 weeks. The second call on 2-13-09 I was told that it will be 4-6 weeks for the check of $234.37 with 7-14 days mailing days.
I feel at this point that there is no check and no processing and mailing days. I feel that when we call in March it will be the same old story and one that we have heard since last year. They have their useless machine and I am very certain that they have no intention of returning the money.
Please help us if you can and respond to this complaint. It is not about the money as the principle of the constant lies and their silence when you tell them that you no longer believe them. They will not help us or explain why they are doing this scam.
