D40X Flash Failure Engineering Manufacturing Defect of built-in flash

My D40X no longer fires the flash. Apparently this is happening to many others. The camera is only about 18 months old. Dealership and Nikon do not recognize the widespread nature of this problem. This model camera should be reviewed as a possible re-call. This problem is now popping up all over the place with owners of a D40x who bought it around the same time I did. It all points to an issue with the manufacturing or engineering of the D40x. If Nikon refuses to recall or replace these cameras they are sending out the message that their products are unreliable and do not last.
