42" TV died after living only 8 months, unable to contact mother company

We purchased a 42" television from Spectroniq through the Home Shopping Network in November (received in January). On Saturday 8-2-08 the TV failed to turn on. We checked the outlets and fuses in our home, unplugged the TV and plugged back in, and re-read the manual to no avail. We called the Spectroniq Customer Support hotline and got a voice-mail message stating the company was in bankruptcy court and unavailable to answer questions regarding repairs or warranties.

For the past several days we have tried to find solutions to this problem. We contacted a repair service who stated the cost of the repair could possibly exceed the price of the TV! Today we contacted the Home Shopping Network to ask if they had any information regarding the bankruptcy and the two representatives we spoke with were unaware of any bankruptcy proceedings. They did suggest I write or fax HSN about our problem.

So... Here we are with a "dead" TV and no one to assist with the burial costs! We would very much welcome a lawsuit against this company and HSN for failing to notify consumers about defective products or the filing of the bankruptcy.
