I used to be a Sprint customer, but when my initial 2 year contract expired they tried to trick me into renewing my contract.

First they shut off my phone on the day my contract expired which went against our contract. After two years I was supposed to pay the same rate, but was free to leave Sprint at any time.

They then refused to reactivate my account citing errors in the system. After a week of losing business the Account Service Rep told me he could give me a new account to get around this and said they would waive the minimum two year contract b/c they were not giving me a free phone and they were only opening a new account b/c of software errors on their end. It was not my choice but theirs.

I agreed and five seperate reps told me I would be under no obligation to remain with Sprint for 2 years. I could switch carriers at any time.

Then four months later I switched to Cingular and they hit me with an early cancellaton fee. So i complained and was told it would be removed by the rep and it never was. So i complained some more and cited the taped conversatons we had had and was told it would be removed. It wasn't and now it is on my credit report and is nearly impossible to remove.

I'm told this is a common occurrence for Sprint customers and would love to join any existing class action law suits against Sprint or Nextel. What they are doing amounts to fraud and deceptive business practice. I would also discourage any one from doing business with these companies.
