Digital Audio 2002
Dirty ripoff liars Pretty crappy speakers individual components of the speaker are sub par hollow sounding crap boxes

Electronics and household app.

I'm going to try to offer a bit of hope for those ripped off buying Dogg Digital or Digital Audio speakers from cons. I too bought some speakers and was scammed with the con.

Pretty crappy speakers I admit With a little patience, effort, and research I have turned my hollow sounding crap boxes into a decent sounding speaker. I bought 2 books from Radio Shack on speaker design for $5 each which points out some obvious flaws in the speaker box design. The individual components of the speaker are sub par but can be made to sound really good with some box tweaking and a few replacement parts.

What I did;

I replaced the crossover with an adjustable passive crossover from Radio Shack that cost $20 along with this I replaced all wiring with heavy guage Monster Wire cable. I cut out a small hole (make sure the whole and crossover can be COMPLETELY sealed or else the speakers will still sound terrible. Mine looks terrible but it works. I screwed the crossover on another piece of wood and the screwed it into the interior of the box so the rear wall is still flush.

I glued a few crossbeams across the two side walls of the box to stiffen chipboard which will eliminate the boxy sound. I glued some vibration dampening material ($10 per 3 ft roll, I used one roll on each speaker. I imagine you could use rubberized undercoating available in automotive sections for less money) on the interior panels. I caulked the inerior seams with latex outdoor caulk ($3 a tube. I used one tube.)

The final phase was where the formulas in the speaker design books came in. I stuffed a few bags of Poly fill ($3 a bag) in the box before I screwed it back together. The formulas will help tune the woofer and mid-range with the amount of fill and the port lengths. The ports for the subwoofer were only for show but if you apply the formulas you'll need to extend them out with PVC to tune the bass response. Don't glue the PVC to the port just yet because you'll need to tune it when the speakers are assembled and you can listen to it at your usual levels.

Play around with it like I did and hopefully the quality of the sound will be improved. I hope this helps make the best out of a bad situation. Put in the effort and a few more bucks and hopefully you won't feel that you're money was totally wasted. For about $60 extra dollars and a few hours of time they really do sound pretty good. I'm not sure about the durability but I doubt it's very long at high levels. I got scammed regardless of how good they sound but at least I'm using the speakers

Feel free to email me and I'll try to help you out. I might even take some pictures and post them to a website if anyone is interested in helping out with that.
