Xbox 360 Disc Drive Failed in Two Months, Told 7 Day Warranty

Hello I bought an xbox 360 from Gamestop on 1/11/08 brought it home and played the system for exactly two months. Last night the xbox 360 broke in which the drive wasn't reading any disc happens a lot with 360.
Well I still have the receipt and called gamestop today and they said that they cant help me because you have only a 7 day warranty from gamestop.
I believe this is false under the IL laws for returns I believe you are allowed up to 90 days and anyways since they are the dist. They are obligated to render some service to customers that experience this problem.
What really is hard is that I have a Halo 3 tournament coming up that is 50,000.00 first place and now I will not be able to compete.
If you can do anything to help please do so thousands of people are experiencing this problem and getting taken advantage of.
If I am able to create a lawsuit please let me know.
