Don't buy Magellan GPS, Terrible, deceptive customer service & questionable quality

Electronics and household app.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, COUNTLESS HOURS ON HOLD, PROMISED BUT UNRETURNED PHONE CALLS, promised but not delivered repairs, possible computer problems from installing mapsend and questionable reliability all make Magellan a company to avoid. Once you've bought something from them you are trapped into their clutches.

I have experienced many problems with the explorist 210 and the mapsend software in the first 10 months.

An unbeliveable number of HOURS have been spent on HOLD and on the phone trying to resolve the problems. The experience of talking to so called support engineers in India has been the most frustrating experience by far of any company I have ever done business with.

They promised overnight next day delivery on 3 occasions and failed to do it. They promised to call back with answers repeatedly and failed to do it. They left me stranded in the middle of the Rocky Mountains for nine days waiting for the promised next day replacement.

My computer crashed and I had to send it out for repair following the installation of mapsend, which apparently is not approved by microsoft.

I have had to do total resets of the 210 on several occasions to get the 210 back in service which required more time wasted on the phone.

The 210 Explorist would not accept a file from mapsend even though the file was much smaller than the specifications call for and smaller than other files I had previoulsy downloaded. This resulted in much more wated time on the phone because the support staff tried to convince me that I should just live with the smaller downloads. They finally agreed to send a replacement.

They failed to let me know that to use the replacement, I would need my computer with internet access, which isn't so easy in the middle of the wilderess of the Rocky Mountains.

They have phones that sometimes are not answered because "The mailbox is full".

Their manuals show magellansupport@thalesnavigation.com but I am told that Magellan is no longer part of Thales Navigation. The email came back as undeliverable.

Don't buy any magellan products unless you are prepared for questionable reliability and the WORST, MOST TIME CONSUMING, MOST FRUSTRATING so called support of your life.
