Internet & follow-up telephone scam, threats, intimidation, misrepresentation ripoff

I went online to buy my son a Nikon digital camera. Through everyprice I found a very good price from a site called Digital Nerds. I went on the site, found everything I needed, including a 1 Gig memory card, put it in the shopping cart and paid with a credit card.

About five minutes later, I got a phone call from J&J Digital asking if I had just placed an order and who it was for. He then proceeded to tell me that the memory card I had ordered was "low speed" not "high speed" and that every picture taken with it would take 15 seconds to record. I said that I was a digital user and had never heard of such a thing.

He then said that this technology was proprietary to Nikon and that only stupid people bought the cheaper card. He said he could give me the right card for $179. I said I wasn't going to spend that much for a memory card and that he should cancel the order. He started to get aggressive but said he would give me the card for $149.

When I asked again why there were different cards and why they would advertise a "low-speed" card on the page with the camera, he started yelling at me, saying he wasn't going to explain the "goddamn" thing again and that I was obviously too old and had never learned anything. When I pushed back, he swore at me again and said he would give me the card for $129. After I questioned the whole process again, he told me I had a choice: I could have my original order with the wrong card or the expensive order with the $129 card.

At that point I said again that he should cancel the order, to which he responded that I would have to pay a 25% cancellation fee, which I, of course, said was completely illegal. He swore at me again and said he was going to charge me the cancellation. I told him to do whatever he wanted and hung up.

As I got on the phone with my credit card company on my second phone line, he called me back. 15 times (no exaggeration). Each time I hung up without speaking.in the end, I cancelled my credit card, and the calls stopped.

This company SHOULD NOT be allowed to do business on the internet. I was able to find an address for them via other posted complaints, which seem to be under various names: Digital Nerds, J&J Digital, Stargate Digital, Wawa, and more.
