A&M Photo World
Ripoff dishonest fraudulent selling

Electronics and household app.

I ordered a camera from them back in 2002 as an Xmas present for my daughter. When purchasing this camera I was encouraged to buy additional items from them (extra memory card, extended warranty) which I did. I received my package and my daughter was happy with the camera. However, here we are 4 years later and the camera is not functioning properly. There is one button on it that doesn't work properly. I contacted them to see how I get the camera fixed. I was told to send it in to mack camera (which is who does the extended warranty items). I wrote a description of the problem and sent it into mack camera. Now I'm being told that what is wrong is NOT covered under the warranty. It is considered impact damage and they will NOT cover it. Come to find out I was also suppose to receive a warranty card which I DID NOT receive. I called A&M Photo World today to discuss the problem. I was told that they always send a warranty card and that I did receive the card. I can say with 110% certainty that I DID NOT ever receive a warranty card.

When purchasing the warranty I specifically asked about dropping the camera and I was also told that it WOULD BE covered. The only thing that isn't covered is if you like run over it with a car (their exact words). So they lied to me in order to get me to purchase the warranty. Now they are saying its my fault b/c I should've read the warranty card and known that impact damage wasn't covered. However, I was never sent a card and why would I question what I was told? I spoke with the Customer service supervisor who told me that I had to have received a warranty card and that this whole thing was my fault and that I shouldn't have been calling them 4 years later. Well the reason I'm calling 4 years later is that I am now being told my warranty is not valid for what I was told when I purchased it. I was also told to send in the warranty card (which is when I realized I should've received one but didn't). I also spoke to another supervisor Chad (who is suppose to be the top person in A&M, which I don't think is the case). I said I wanted to be refuned the $149 for the goods and services I purchased which were fraudulently sold to me. He said at no time would any person tell me that dropping a camera be covered. I told him I called A&M two weeks ago and inquired about purchasing a camera and extended warranty. At that time I was also told dropping it was covered and once again heard the phrase "Only thing not covered is if you run over it with a car." Humm... Is this something they teach them so that people purchase a warranty that otherwise would not probably be purchased. He told me there was NOTHING he would do. I asked who to write regarding this problem and he told me is the person.

Both supervisors were extremely rude and kept telling me this was all my fault and that no one would've ever told me that dropping a camera was covered. Yet, I heard it once when I purchased my camera and a second time, two weeks ago when I called in as a possible customer. I will NEVER purchase from A&M Photo World again. They DO NOT stand by the products they sell and they simply LIE to you.
