Ripoff Dishonest bad business bad customer service rude scam

I placed an order for a Canon SD630 camera for the price of $185 shipping (11-3). A day after I placed the order I got an email asking me to call 1-866-213-1333 to confirm my order or it would be void. Before I got a chance to call, I received a call on my cellphone from this company (11-6-06) asking me to confirm the order. As we were confirming the agent tried to sell me an extra battery to go with my sale. When I declined to buy the extra battery the agent gave me a hard time about my decision making claims such as, "So you are okay with your battery dying after 15 minutes instead of purchasing the extended life battery that will last for hours?" When I responded "Yes" the agent continued to give me a hard time about the decision not to buy and then offered me extended memory. When I informed him I already had purchased extended memory and was happy with my order, he began to offer me something else. So again, I informed him that I was happy with my order and just wanted to confirm the purchase of the camera to which the agent hung up on me.

I called the next day (11,7, 06) because I felt uneasy about whether my order was confirmed by the agent because he had been so short with me and hung up on the call. The person I spoke to sounded very much like the person I had spoken to just the night before (not sure if there is more than one customer service person at this point or not.) I said that I was calling to confirm my order because someone had called to confirm it with me the previous day and when I didn't purchase any of the extras, they hung up on me and I wanted to be sure my order was confirmed. The agent said "You order is void and the camera is sold out." I asked how that could be since I was just called last night to confirm. Again the agent said "Your order is void." I then asked if he was serious, and if his behavior was what was called customer service and he said sarcastically "yup" and hung up on me again. I called back and selected a different number from the automated menu hoping to reach someone else. The same guy answered the phone. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said to call back in an hour. I repeated that I wanted to speak to a supervisor, and he said "I'm it" and then once again hung up on me.

This was the most unreasonable person I have ever had to deal with. At no point did I raise my voice or even get upset, even when he kept pushing products on me. All I wanted to do was confirm the purchase I had made on the website because it was a good price. The agent was so rude I really felt upset by the end of my third call because I didn't have any options or alternatives to dealing with that one very rude person.

I do not know at this point if this is a scam, but I am very skeptical and will probably call my Credit Card company to be safe. If this is not a scam this is certainly one of the WORST cases of poor customer service and poor business practice that I have ever come across.
