Rebate ripoff web page prices with rebate but rebate is not valid at order time

I purchased a e-vga video card from newegg.com. This was ordered through the website where the price of the e-vga video card was listed with the rebate price. After 4 months, the rebate information site said the rebate was approved. After another 2 months of not receiving the check I checked back at the site to find that the rebate was declined becuase I had purchased the product before the valid date for the rebate!

The website should not list the product's rebate price at the time of purchase if it is not valid at the time. This is very misleading and I believe unethical.
