Ripped off by COMPUDEALS2U - Lesson learned the hard way $

Electronics and household app.

We ordered a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS Digital Camera from Compudeals2u on 12/18 for $339. The next day my wife received a confirmation telephone call and the company representative informed her that the camera didn't come with a battery. They could supply one for $30. When my wife told him there wasn't anything in the ad that a battery was not included he replied that since she was a first time customer, he would let her have it for $15. She agreed to this.

Well what a surprise, when the camera arrived on the 24th, we found out we were charged $420 instead of the $354 we thought we owed. We never approved this amount and you can imagine how we felt. My wife called the company that day and was told that the person we needed to talk with was not in and did we realize it was Christmas Eve and he was wanting to go home.

My wife called several times after Christmas and was told that the person she needed to talk with was still not in. She was informed that if we returned the camera we would be charged a 15% restocking fee plus an additon $20 for shipping. She finally got through to the "person" on 1/2 after waiting on hold for about 30 minutes. The person informed her that the camera we ordered was a foreign camera and wouldn't work here and that didn't she want an US camera. He also told her that there was no way the person she had talked with during the confirmation call would have never told her that cheap a price. That our only recourse was to return the camera. Yea right - 15% of $420 $20 shipping = $88.

My wife called the Better Business Bureau after she got off the phone and was informed that they have had numerous complaints about this company. Unfortunately they were unable to do anything about it. It appears this company knows all the loop holes.

Lesson learned - check out any company prior to ordering anything and find out the return and warranty policies before you push the sumbit button. If it sounds too good to be true - it probably isn't.
