MWI Simple Escapes - MWI Homework Helpers

On September 9 I reviewed my checking account statement and noticed a charge of $9.95 to MWI Simple Escapes that I did not recall approving. I called the 800 listed on the statement, and was told that I clicked on site in Classmates.com which signed me up for their services.

They also said that an email was sent to me disclosing the membership and what I would need to do if I wanted to cancel the services. I check my email on a regular basis, but more than likely this email was sent to my junk mail box, which if I do not recognize the contact I disregard it. So I requested that this service be cancelled, since I did not authorize it in the first place.

On September 14, I reviewed my account and there was another $9.95 charge, but this time for MWI Homework Helper, I called them again, and said that I just called and cancelled this service; the representative stated to me that this was a different service. I informed that I also wanted this cancelled, and she attempted to have me keep the service as I could get discounts to various retail shops, I had to tell her 3 times, please just cancel my service.

It wasn't until September 22 when I was watching the news and saw that others have had problems with unauthorized charges to their accounts, with various companies, and that there was a site to help people like me. The next day I called my bank and requested a dispute, they were very helpful. They closed my debit card and were to issue me a new one and are going to dispute the charges with the company.

I was shocked to see this has been going on for years, and this company is still getting away with this crime, something needs to be done to shut them down!
