Government Grant U.S. A - ripoff

I live in Washington State and I was at home about 2 months ago a person who identified her self as a representive of the government grant office called and asked for my boyfriend and then persisted to ask me if I was family, since we have a child together. I told her yes and she continued on to tell me that we had been gaurenteed a gov, grant with a min of $8,000.

I asked her questions about her company and I even asked flat out if she was trying to scam me out of money. She persisted on to put the security rep on the phone to assure me that I was not being scammed. After about 10 minutes of questions and answers I agreed to go ahead and follow through with the process.

In the begining they told me that the only way I was approved is if I had a valid checking account number. It wasn't untill after I gave them my info, that they told me that I would be charged $240.00 for a book on gov grants and that if i decided not to do it my money would be refunded. After I heard this I instantly told them that I did not want to do it any more and that I would like them to take my household off their calling list. The man I was talking to said that that would be fine. And that if i chose to at any aother time I could call him back at 1 800-551-7099 and speak with any customer rep.

They called back a few times after that and asked me if I had changed my mind. I told him no firmly each time and hung up. About a month and a half later I went to get money out of my account to pay my daycare and there was $240.00 missing. The bank did some research and found out that it was that "gov, grant" company.

There was nothing that the bank could do about it because the company had my voice recorded saying yes I agreed to pay them $240.00 which I never did. When I called the company and told them what happened to see if maby it was a mistake they hung up on me. It has been two weeks sience they stole my money and I have heard no response at all.
