Ebay - Paypal
Search Results Limited by Checkbox Buyers Had to Uncheck

Education & Science

When a buyer performed a search using the eBay search, the result set would only bring up items that had PayPal as a payment option. I noticed this questionable practice because I am a programmer. To see all the items listed on eBay, a buyer had to go, once the results came back, into the advanced search option and, on the second tab, manually uncheck the "only show items using PayPal" checkbox. The advanced search option was not used in the original search, nor was the option selected in the initial search.

A buyer would not know to go back and disable that option unless they were told it was happening. I wonder if eBay told sellers about this practice when they signed up. I did send an email concerning this questionable practice and noticed the option has been moved to the front of the search results. I still wonder if sellers and buyers are notified of this default setting. It surely has cost some sellers money. Yet eBay was getting its monthly selling fees from those sellers.
