Phishing Email Asks for Debit Card Number and PIN

I received an email from a person imitating Citi Bank. They even had a link to a website. Be careful. If you see a bunch of misspelled words and gibberish, it's them!

Report them to your Attorney General and the FBI, which are investigating them. I have shown the email in order to make the public aware of it. The sender's address was jfire@earthlink.com, and I hope the complaint allows it to be shown.

This is what the Attorney General's office had to say: "This is a scam. Citibank has sent out a warning about it several months ago."

On May 12, 2004, I sent the Attorney General's office a message saying that some crook is trying to trick me into giving out my bank account information, and I pasted in the message I received. I noted that the crook can't even spell right. The message read:

"Dear_ citi_bank Clients_,

This mesage was seent _by the Citbiank _server_ to veerify _your_ _e-mail_ address_. You must complete this process by clicking on the_ link beelow and enttering in the little winddow your Citbiank _Debit full_card nummber and CARD PIN that you use_ in the Atm_machine. This_is _done_ for_your protection -N - becaurse some of our members no_longer have access to their e-mail addreses and we must verify it.

To queerify your_ e-mail adderss and access your Citibank account, click on _the link below."
