Barrett Mitsubishi
Ripped off, Stuck with a $859.00 payment and can't refinance like they said we could in a year. Gas mileage a misprint on sticker too!

Education & Science

We went to Barrett mitsubishi and tried out a 2002 Montero sport. I carefully looked at the gas milage on the sticker because that was a major factor to us. The sticker said something like 17 in the city and 24 on the HWY. Not even close!

The best I could get was around 14 on the HWY and this was on pretty flat ground running approx 65 mph. I measured out over 5 tanks of gas always coming out about the same. I took it to the dealership to have it looked at to see what the problem was.

They called me the next day and told me it was getting 23 mpg. WOW! I said how could I be so far off? They said they filled it up and drove around for a half an hour or so and then refilled it up. This was their measurement technique? I told them that they needed to drive a bit further like a hundred miles or so to really get an accurate reading. They agreed to keep it another day and do a more precise test. Much to my amazement according to them, it is now getting 24 mpg!

I asked them that when the Gas light comes on at 230 miles should I just keep on driving for another 200 miles or so? No comment. I am just a stupid customer who can't add or subtract.

That's just the tip of the iceburg. This $26,000 car somehow ended up costing nearly $41,000 and somehow got right past us! I knew the 0 Down and 0 payments would have a catch somewhere.

I later find out that the things that they said were included in the original price in fact were add on's.
For example the CD player and sun roof. We had said when we were on the lot with the salesman that we would take the car if they threw in the little spoiler on the rear and they agreed. Later I find we were charged for that too.

So here comes our first payment for $859.00! We called our Credit union to refinance and they just Laughed as does any one else we try to refinance this gas guzzeling piece of crap with.

Mitsubishi told us that it would hold it's value well enough to refinance in a year with no problem. Another LIE! We are upside down in this thing $26,000. I am being told it's worth about $14,000. I don't know what to do. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
