Ripoff of non-existant account

I was check my credit profile when I ran across this a few months ago. It said I owed fingerhut this nominal fee, and the account was opened in 1999. Under a second credit report of another angency, it was a different amount and the account was said to be opened at a later time.

What is this? I NEVER had an account with these people, nor received any goods. I tried to contact them by phone, but no one will answer and they give you an address only. I wrote to them twice, and got no response. Besides, I frequently check my report and it was just put on there in December. Not only that, but I had no invoices or even a chance to pay this crummy bill. I probably would just mail them in their chump change, but now I am pissed because this is severely impacting my credit, making me pay higher interest rates on everything.

What gives? These people are worse than Martha Stewart, at least she did not directly hurt people on purpose; she tried to save a few bucks. I am really frustrated. I just want to resolve this as quickly as I can, even if it means just giving them the money they don't deserve. Is there a class action lawsuit anywhere for this? I would like to join!
