Same folks scamming, just under a different names

I fell for it, but something different happened. My check hasn't been cashed (I've put a stop payment on it). Today I received a card from a different company "C.C.A." with a $6500 limit. Any clerk or waiter would laugh if you handed it to them. I'm thinking that these are the same folks scamming, just under a different names.
