SVC Rip-Off. Unauthorized charge to credit card

An unauthorized charge of $79.95 was placed on my credit card today by CIC Credit Monitoring Services. I do recall obtaining a free credit report from this company and authorizing a $5.00 charge for one of the options/services offered, but never did I see or authorize a $79.95 charge.

I immediately contacted my credit card company and they were definately aware of CIC's practices. My credit card company would not credit my account until I had made an attempt to have this fee canceled.

I called the 1-877-513-XXXX provided and received a recorded as expected. There was an option to cancel the service by phone, fax, or email. I'll make my first attempt via email, but do not expect that I'll get a response.

I'd recommend that everyone stay away from this CIC service as it is obviously a fraud. I have searched the internet before for less than honest businesses and have never seen a list a long as there is with this company.

The FTC should shut these folks down immediately.
