Rip-off Unauthorized Credit Card Charge

Last month, out of curiosity, I went to FreeCreditReport.com to sign up and to see my credit report. I just received my credit card statement and noticed that there was a charge for $79.95. I immediately called the number next to the charge description.

I talked to the phone representative and he explained that when I signed up at FreeCreditReport.com, CIC will offered a 30-day credit monitoring automatically. I explained to the rep that I didn't authorize the transaction and would like it resolved before I'll take it up with my credit card company.

Since it was a 30-day "trial" service, I could cancel and CIC will credit my account. I didn't hesitate. I told the rep to cancel it immediately. I should see the adjustment on the next statement.
