Youbill Inc Failure to comply with contract terms

I signed a 1 year contract with a martial arts school that billed through Member Solutions that ended on Sept 30. Per the terms of the contract, I was required to confirm cancellation at least 30 days before the contract end date to avoid automatic renewal.in June, I called Member Solutions to have them make a note on my account that the contract will not be renewed. The rep I spoke with gave me verbal confirmation that the account would be closed at the end of term as I was willing to finish paying out the dues until the end despite no longer attending the school. I called again at the end of July to confirm and was told that a note would be put on the account to cancel at the end of the term after I sent in a letter. At the beginning of August I sent in a letter informing them of my intent to cancel the contract and that I had already contacted them twice before about this.
I assumed this was taken care of as I received nothing back from them. On Oct 1, money was withdrawn from my account for payment to them despite the contract end date having passed. I called them and found out that they had automatically renewed my contract for another year without my authorization, they refused to cancel the new contract, and that - if I chose to cancel, I would be forced to pay a full year's tuition. I informed them that I had contacted them twice by phone and once by letter asking that the contract not be renewed on the end date. The rep said they had not received my communication and that the renewal was valid and legal. The rep also said that they had sent me a letter at the beginning of Sept stating the contract would be renewed. I received no such letter. Neither did my friend who signed up for the school the same day.
I have since then reported them to my bank's fraud department and have received confirmation that the charges against my account were not valid and the money has been returned to my account. However, I am now receiving emails and calls from Member Solutions stating that I owe them for the monthly payments. I have also contacted the school directly to inform them of the situation. My next step is legal action if Member Solutions continues their collection attempts. I have followed my contract terms. They, however, are in violation of breach of contract.
