Scammed me out of $1438 and took away my dream of going to college

I had given up all hope of going to college. I could not get approved for any loans or assistance to go. Then one day I got a call from a Derek at Birchmount Financial Services stating that I had gotten approved for a $20,000 loan. I need this money to cover housing, supplies, and the rest of my tution. I come from a family who has trouble just paying the electric bill and this was the happiest day of my life. I talked to Derek over the phone and was told how much everything would be to pay back the loan. I started crying the second I got off the phone when I told my mom I could go to college.
He mentioned that I would need a collatoral fee of $1400 due to the fact that I dont have any credit. It seemed reasonable to me and at the time all I could think is that Im really going to school now. The collatoral fee was made up of the first 6 months of repaying the loan back and I wouldnt have to make my first payment till March. I would have 10 years to pay off the loan with a fixed interest rate. I talked to Derek a few more times as did my mom and we were both concerned whether or not this was a scam. He kept insisting that it wasnt and promicing after we sent are money, by money-gram to an Alicia Fiest in Ontario Canada, within 24 hours my money would be placed in full in my checking account. They faxed over the "loan agreement" with everything in it.
I got money back from being in car accident and totaling my vehicle, I used this money as the collatoral. I sent in by money-gram at Wal-Mart. I gave it till 1pm the next day to call them when the money wasnt in my account. They told me that due to the fact that they had to check my credit at different banks to find one that approved me it diminished my credit, and therefore I needed to send $1400 more dollars. I flipped out, my mom gave me the last dime she had, literally, to get this loan. They told me that they have a billing cycle and that we would have to wait till the end of the month for them to send us our money back.
All I could think is there goes my education. I bawled for three days straight and was told it was my fault. I was unable to go to college due to these bastards. We have yet to get our check and now every time we call all you get is, "Hello, Goodbye." Were still working with the cops but it looks like were not gettig or money back and Im working three jobs now to try and save up to go. I hope these b*st*rds get caught.
