Sneeky, Underhanded Scam Artists

I was checking my checking account online and found a charge pending for $39.95. I called the bank and they told me to call the number on the debit. I did and it was a long silence and then a busy signal. I tried several times. I could not get a response. I put the number into the internet and got the 800notes site. There were many complaints about this number. One man found out who they were and had a valid phone number to call. I called and was on hold for 15 minutes before a man named "Edward" answered the phone. I argued with him that I did not purchase anything online and never had for 25 minutes. He finally conceded and cancelled the false charges. He gave me a cancellation number. I called back half an hour later and double-checked with a person named "Mary". Both of these people sounded Middle Eastern, not American. The true phone number to speak to a real person is 800-808-8529. Check your accounts frequently. I have had to go to the bank, file a report and get a new card so this does not happen again.
