Mr. Ron Trombley,

This is a formal complaint about the misinformation I was given concerning your 30 day "free" trial for DirectOne long distance calling cards. When your membership representative presented the offer, I was aware that this was a membership item in which I was to make monthly payments if I chose to keep the program. I have questioned your representative several times to assure myself that my visa/checking account was not to be charged until AFTER my 30 day trial if I had not cancelled the offer. Every time - even to the point of frustrating your representative - I questioned your representative, I was assured that no charge was to made to my account until AFTER my trial period.

Needless to say, I was very irate and shocked to find out that my account had been billed $61.02 by FREE5000MINUTES.Co (d1comm cyprus) on 04/23. This unauthorized withdrawal has also caused an overdraft on my checking account.

I have already spoken to your customer service representative Hong (employee 204) on 4/26 at approximately 08:15AM Pacific Standard time. Hong informed me that I was told is was ONLY A "RISK FREE" offer which required AN IMMEDIATE purchase of 5000 minutes. This is NOT the information your representative gave me otherwise I would never have accepted this misleading offer.

Hong indicated my account has been cancelled and my charges reversed but that does not address the MISREPRESENTATION nor the financial predicament to my account caused by this unauthorized withdrawal. I now have to address both NSF fees being charged by my financial institution and the check payee who's check has been returned.

After requesting a transfer to a supervisor, Hong indicated she was not authorized to do so. I have at least requested a copy of my recorded conversation (Reference # xxxxxxx) to review my conversation with your representative. I will continue to make constant queries regarding this complaint until I receive my recorded conversation.

I have also researched your company (after the fact unfortunately) and found much complaint of the same issue I am now encountering. I will be submitting a request to the BBB to determine if they have a history of your company.

This is a dirty way to conduct business and if in fact I am proven correct about this misrepresentation, I will do everything legally possible to pass this information. Being both a military member and an employee of the largest chip manufacturer company in the world, I will address this matter to my military and private Public Relations to seek their assistance in warning others of this unorthodox business practice.
