I was moving from Greensboro, NC to Knoxville, TN with a drop off in between at Durham, NC. The move was scheduled for 12/24/02 and they said they will come and pick up the stuff between 2 PM and 4 PM.

As per the list that I had provided, they gave me an estimate of $876.00 for the entire move. The lady from the moving companys office e-mailed me the confirmation email which has all the details. It said the rate included packing, loading and unloading and free storage for a month among other things.

But on the day of the move they ended up showing up at 11 in the night instead of that afternoon as promised. But I agreed and by the time they finished everything it was 1:15 in the morning. Once all the loading was done he gave me a huge bill of $2300.00, which is almost three times of the original estimate. To my surprise, he had charged me for packing and loading and unloading too, which they said was included in the original estimate (I had already done most of the packing. They just wrapped the sofa and the bed and dismantled the dining table).

I tried to tell him about the same but he was in no mood to listen. Then they said they will deliver the Durham drop off first and wanted me to be there right then. Durham is 80 miles from Greensboro. I said I will only be able to make it in the morning. The next morning I was at Durham at 10 AM. After dropping off the three items in Durham he said he will drive to Knoxville and drop off the rest in the evening there. He made me pay the entire amount in cash. They also wanted to me pay the fee for waiting time

After reaching Knoxville, he asked $800.00 for waiting fee in CASH before he delivers. After talking to him over the phone for almost an hour and said I will not pay any waiting charge, he ended up dumping all the stuff in front of the apartment on the road and left. I really am so pissed about the whole thing, even after paying $2000.00 we ended up getting the worst possible service.
