Education & Science

My husband and I received a phone call telling us we were approved for a credit card and they are an establishing credit card company that will help us rebuild our credit. My husband did not have bad credit he just did not have any credit except for a 99 vehicle we purchased recently and it was too new to report. We are in total good standing with our payments. It was myself that had a couple of outstanding debts that I got caught up with a few years back. (I am slowly but surely paying each one off!)

Well anyhow, we thought we asked all the appropriate questions and read all the info that we were sent. They had seemed to leave out quite a bit of info and I questioned some of the material that I received. One example was if we do not make a purchase in a specified amount of time, we would be charged. So I specifically asked, "If we make a $5.00 GAS purchase for our vehicle, will that be sufficient?", the customer service person said, "Yes, as long as you make a purchase it does not matter what the amount is."

I also asked what type of card this would be. They went on and on about this particular bank and how well established and well known it is. I should of caught on when I never heard the word Visa or Mastercard...

I tried calling the Better Business Bureau to see if they had any complaints. They did not have anything listed. So I went ahead and let them take the $200.00 out from my checking account which they told us we would receive our card within 10 days following. I even told the cust. Ser. Rep. That this would be just in time to help pay for my daughter's tuition at the Catholic High School she attends. I even remarked how I could just put the remainder on our new credit card they were sending us. The rep. Never said we would not be able to use it for purchases other than their catalog! We never even heard about the catalog.

There are too many "fine print" info to list here that was never made available to us. Completely misleading.

After about two weeks, no card. I called the long distance customer service line, which took several attempts and was very costly and time consuming, and they had to reissue us a new card which took another several weeks.

When we finally received the credit card, it came in a package with a catalog and all this never seen before information. We've been had!

The time period for which you need to make a purchase without being charged is 90 days. We have not had the card or catalog for the 90 days and were charged $33.00 for not making a purchase.

So here I am, going on to their web site to make a complaint, (after several attempts to again contact cust. Service with no luck) and came across this web site.
