Rip-off they charged my checking account for several months w/o my consent ripoff Longview Texas

I ordered a Ronco food dehydrator in April and I was slammed by MWI in April. I didn't know what it was and since I was still grieving from the loss of my husband in November, I didn't catch this. I went to the bank to check on this in November and we started looking back to how long they had been slamming my account.

We also made the connection to when I purchased the dehydrator, and we started trying to stop payment on it, but to no avail. After being charged again, I just said no more. I finally got a number to call and had a conversation with Pat, and she assured me that I will be fully refunded in the next two billing cycles. I will be watching my account much more closely to see if this happens. What I want to know is, can anyone out there just slam innocent people just by ordering over the phone?

I will think many times now before doing that again. There must be some kind of protection for the consumer from these ripoff artists. They claimed to be a service that offered discounts and that I received a packet, and I had nine days to cancel the order if I didn't want the service. I corrected them and stated I never received any packet and furthermore I didn't even talk to anyone.

I was very upset when she commented that I must have ordered it or they wouldn't have set me up. I told her that no all I had done was order the dehydrater and they slammed my account. She didn't like the word slammed and even said she didn't know what I meant by the term.

After a brief moment she returned to the phone to inform me that I was being fully refunded for all the charges since April, but what about all of the innocent people out there being slammed for $9.95 each month for nothing, the people that don't know how to fight back?

Something needs to be done.
