Warren National University Aka Warren National University
I've asked for help to get this degree and have received NO communication. Now I don't have time to finish and want a refund. What are my rights? Do I have a legal case? Should I get a lawyer?

Education & Science

My husband registered with Kennedy Western University three years ago to get an engineering degree. My husband is an electrical apprentice.

The university never gave him a "placement" test so the math course he was given was too difficult for him. He called many times asking for the placement test so he could get courses better suited for his ability... He did finally get the test but by that time he realized that he didn't have time to complete the courses in the allotted time and work full time and do homework for his apprentice schooling.

My husband called asking for a refund. The university gave him an extension. He called and left messages over and over to talk to someone about getting a refund or what our options are... He never got any response or calls back. He gave up calling them.

During this time the university changed names and dropped the engineering degree course. We recently got in the mail the Warren National University letter about expectations and policy and also a notice that he has to complete the degree by January because it is no longer offered by the university. There was also a statment of what we've payed and that we owe $600 for the extension.

We realize that registering with this college was a huge mistake not only because my husband didn't have the time to complete it but also because it is not an accredited college and has horrible communication with students.

Now I (the wife) am trying to do research and find out what we can do. I wrote a desperate letter to the university asking for help and a response because we don't have thousands of dollars to give away for nothing...
I've received NO response of course.

Our loan is through Sallie Mae. I read something about "loan forgiveness". Has anyone heard of this?

Is it even possible to get any money back? What are our legal rights now that the university has changed and doesn't offer the degree? What responsibility does the university have when they won't even communicate with their students or offer any counseling or help? Would it be worth getting a lawyer?

I don't want to invest a lot of time or money into this unless there is some hope of getting something back.
