A joke for employess, worse for students!

If you go to college because a friendly but persistent telemarketer finally caught you by chance on the phone and told you to do it, you need to A) be critically suspicious of the intentions and INTEGRITY of any school that employs the use of aggressive telemarketers to sell you on the idea, and B) Be aware that it's simple and easy exactly because it is nearly worthless on the open market in most cases.

The reason they have the telemarketers pursue you so aggressively is that the business is HIGHLY profitable to the company (CEC). How many things truly worth having in life came as easily as acceptance to AIU Online? How many great, legitimate, authentic business or personal opportunities have come to you as the result of a telemarketer who simply wouldn't stop dialing your number until you said DO NOT CALL? You are honest if you answer zero. Use that standard of common sense with AIU.

It was a growing trend for a while because it was cheaper for companies to buy education for their employees in an online fashion rather than risk the loss of productivity involved in losing an employee to ground school, and easier for working adults to attend - not because the education is better.

I was routinely forced to present for acceptance graduate candidates who couldn't even write in coherent sentences, even after substantial coaching. If I refused, the sales managers would scoff at me, and tell me We'll give this one to someone who is more committed to student success. These grad candidates had recently graduated, some even with honors from AIU Bachelor's programs! Make no mistake; the people who call you are under strict quota for SALES. Their job is to MAKE YOU A FIT, or lose their job.

Many of my co-workers had AIU Online Bachelors and Masters degrees hanging in their cubicles as they worked shoulder to shoulder with high school dropouts and high school only graduates doing exactly the same work TELEMARKETING! AIU Online degrees aren't even worth anything to AIU (ok, maybe one gal got promoted, after getting her masters, and posting HUGE SALES NUMBERS!). Director of Admissions=Sales Manager. Senior Director of Admissions=Senior Sales Manager. National Director of Admissions= Senior Sales Manager in Charge of the boiler room. President of the University? SMIC, Sales Manager in Charge of the whole operation. (His Ph. D. Is in Poly Sci? What's that got to do with running a school?) The job of each is to stand around reading spreadsheets, and ask their subordinates How many you got? Where you at? Got one? How many you got?

The many, many layers of sales managers anxiously pace the cubicle aisles ALL DAY asking everyone Got one? Got one yet? And You're behind! Numbers, numbers, numbers just like every other boiler room sales factory you may have ever seen. Once promoted off the phones, the new managers revel in doing no real work other than asking got one?

The success stories and student testimonials that are presented are atypical to the highest degree, and the overwhelming majority of graduates reap nothing but enormous student loan debt payments in exchange for their horribly overpriced endeavor.

If you went to AIU and won something because of it, congratulations! Casinos hold out their million dollar winners too, and then tell everyone they could be next!
If you are ALREADY EMPLOYED by an educational partner of the school, and your company has promised to pay for the school, and has promised you a meaningful promotion upon completion of the degree, then and only then - DO IT! You are probably the only small fraction of humanity that it might be a good deal for.
