Potential students BEWARE! UoP Axia enrollment will say ANYTHING to get you to sign up!

I attended UoP for 18 weeks in the spring/summer of 2007. I was told at the beginning that my financial aid was approved and they started me in classes. I was doing great - straight A's to be exact and I really liked that I could attend the classes on my own time. Suddenly, I received a call that I could NOT start my fifth class because my financial aid wasn't approved. WHAT! I was a single mother who made less than $30,000 a year, why wasn't I approved? They told me that it was because my 2005 tax return showed me as married. Well I thought that was an easy fix, I simply faxed them my divorce papers. They then tell me that it's not good enough and I now owe over $3,000.00!!! I was honest and up front with them in the begining about not being able to afford the classes without FA and they led me to believe that there would not be a problem at all! Besides what does my ex husband from 2005 have to do with 2007? Well it is now 2008 and they are threatening to put this on my credit if I can't pay over $500.00/month for 6 months! As a single parent I have worked very hard on my credit for the past two years to ensure that I can buy a house this year and NOW UoP is ruining our lives!

* Why would they let me start school without knowing for SURE whether or not I was approved for financial aid?

*Why won't UoP work out a reasonable payment plan with me so that my credit doesn't get screwed up?

*Why did they deceive me by telling me that I was approved for FA when they knew, because I made it very clear, that without FA I could not attend.

This place is a rip-off and they will not even communicate with me. My counselor would not even return my calls while I was in the process of trying to get all this worked out. Everything they said they needed I provided via fax and nothing was good enough! I'm just a single white mother trying to make ends meet and was taken for granted by a greedy corporation!
