Received a notice in the mail stating that Afni, Inc. Was making another attemt to contact me regarding my overdue account, offering to accept half of the original amount due.

First, the notice was addressed to my maiden name but my married address. I have never had a Verizon phone from Bloomington, IL, and had never been contacted due to this previous account.

I have, in the last six months signed up for an account at Verizon for our family and they never mentioned an overdue account.in fact, it was cheaper for my family to get the phones in my name rather then my husbands, so there is another flag.

I googled afni and found the rip off report and Praise The LORD I am going to let everyone I know about this so they are not victims of this fraud. I then called the toll free number for afni collections and when I was connected to a person, this is what I said...

"Hello, I received a notice in the mail stating that I had an over due account with Verizon California; however, I have never had an account with them in Bloomington, IL. I went to handle the situation on-line and came across information that this was a ripoff and I was not the first." Suddenly I heard a familiar sound in my ear that notified me that the person on the other end of the phone had hung up on me.
