Deceptive payment terms

"Free miles" costs you a ton on the American Express Delta Sky Miles Card. My bill closes on the 30th of August. That's a Friday. Say they don't finalize the bill until Monday, and it get's mailed on Wednesday, September 4. I receive it on Monday, September 9. Let's see, 10 days have already passed. It's due in 20 days from August 30, or on the 19th. I'm out of town until Friday, September 13, but I open my mail over the weekend. I am pay the bill in 4 days. I mail it on Monday afternoon, and it gets to the office in Chicago on the 20th.

Guess what—a $52.36 FINANCE CHARGE—because I paid the bill in 4 days!!! Hard to believe! When I called them, they basically said too bad, that's the timing. I should call them on the phone from someplace in the world and pay the bill. What happened to 30 days to pay? And, I pay off my bill in full. Watch the Delta Sky Miles card. It will eat you alive.
