RPM - MCI - Worldcom
RPM requesting payment on behalf of MCI/Worldcom bill they say I owe from 7 years ago that I do not owe

I recevied a phone call early this morning from RPM Collection agency on behalf of MCI / Worldcom for the amount of $53.85. I had a cell phone through Worldcom that was bought out by AT&T shortly after I received my phone but only stayed with them for the required amount of time of the contract before switching to Verizon. I always pay my bills on time and left AT&T in good standing. I have not heard one word by either mail or phone from this company until today.

I explained this to the gentleman who originally called me and was very rudely told that he hears these stories all of the time and that I do owe this money. I asked to speak to a supevisor on this matter and was given over to Anna Lisa who tried to explain to me that this company had filed bankrupcy and are now trying to collect on outstanding statements.

I told her I had never in the 7 years received a bill from this company or any other collection agencies and was told I had received a number of statements and that I just refused to pay my debt and that in fact they had sent me a statement 4 months ago without any response from me. I again tried to explain to her the situation and was told I needed to pay my debt or they will take further action (what that is I do not know). She then gave me an address to file a dispute which I am doing right after I finish filling this complaint.

I know This is not a great amount of money compared to the other complaints I have just read through but I refuse to pay something that I do not owe. These people that I dealt with this morning are very rude and agressive and should not be able to get away with this kind of treatment.
