I remember this company well

I remember being young and naive and responding to the ad in the Charlotte Obsrver for this company. I believe it listed something about a "wild and crazy office" and "business-to-business marketing." The potential to make $400 per week was nice as well for a teenager.

I remeber the first interview fairly well. Two people interviewing me and by today's standard, I wouldn't have hired me. I really thought I tanked the interview and wouldn't be called back. I DID get called back, much to my surprise.

During the second interview we were told all the history and how the name was chosen. I believe it was for the man's children. Paul, Nicholas, and Brian if I recall correctly.

After the second interview we were still int he dark about exactly what would be going on and people were very vague with any answers (seems to be the popular word when describing this company).

We were told to go sell perfume products to our familes and that if we sold x amount of bottles we would all get a bonus. Well, we sold x amount of bottles and they weaseled out of paying us what they promised. No one was happy about this. At this time we were still under the impression that we would be dealing with businesses directly.

The following day brought the surprise of standing in a parking lot chasing down customers as they left stores. I drove from South Boulevard to Concord Mills in one day and accumulated exactly ZERO sales.

I quit a few days in and still feel like a real heel for pushing an inferior product on my family. I suppse they were feeling sorry for me and that's why they bought it.

I never saw a contract, tax forms or anything else for that matter. Just a form stating that I was responsible for a few bottles of fragrance.

I don't have anything against the company other than the fact that people still bug me in parking lots from time to time and they were flat out lying with the job ad. I guess maybe I couldn't figure out how I would be a business and someone in a parking lot could be a business as well. I still try to let those people know that it isn't going to be what they think it is. Some listen while others are blinded by the dollars they will never see.

Oddly enough, I found this site in the course of a job hunt. I typed in the name of a company in Google and it popped up here. Small world I guess.
