Education & Science

While on my way to school I recieved a phone call fron a middle eastern woman saying she was calling on behalf of the government that i was selected by the government to recieve a minimum of 5,000 grant money that I could use for valid purposes such as credit cards, school, etc. She already knew my name so i thought it was legite. I asked her why I was and she said it was because it was showing i was in school and was eligible for financial assistance. I gave her my name, address, last four digits of my social and bank account number, truly believing her.

She wanted to transfer my call to a supervisor but i asked her to call back two hours later because i was on my way to class. She did call back and transfered me to a man, also with a middle eastern accent. He made me verify my name, address, etc. (a total of about three times). I asked him for the company name and website and he gave it to me. I looked it up right away, and at the same time looking up information on people calling for the gov. Who will give you 5,000 automatically, and then got skeptical.

After viewing the website, he transferred me to a voice automated person and it wanted me to verify yet again. I knew something was up because I could hear more middle eastern people in the background talking, so instead of answering the questions i listened. The man stopped the recording and asked me to start over. I asked him why i needed to verify this information again when he already knew it and he changed the subject by saying "dont you want the money". The voice machine sounded so generic like he was just playing a voice recorder and putting it up to the phone.

I told him I wanted out and he told me i was making a mistake and wouldnt let me. I said i wasnt comfortable giving my information out, and he said i already did and had to continue, i told him that i wanted no part in this. He told me i was making a mistake again and hung up. While researching your website, my story relates to that of Marina from glendale California, but the name they gave her was "Government grant Central"
