Award Notification SCAM

Got a check in the mail today for 1898.72, seemed too good to be true that I won a lottery that I never played. Called the number listed on the letter (519-679-2276) and it went directly to voice mail. Couldn't really even understand what it said. But it was not Jim Bosco or Donna Smith as the letter indicated was contact information. Obviously after reading other complaints this is a scam. I am going to my bank first thing in the morning to report this.

The cashiers check really does look real and I just wonder what would happen if I were to deposit it?
